Slow Safari

With my switch to Apple one thing that seemed odd was how slow it seemed, now granted I started on an old iMac so I accepted it being slow, then stepped up to a current PowerBook 17” with a gig of ram, sitting next to what I would say is a equivalent speed Windows computer the web browsing was painfully slow, it seemed worse at times depending on the update level of OS X… My mac guru buddy thought I was crazy, but he has really only used macs his whole life so if you don’t know any better its normal, well come to find out there were some configurations of computers/routers that have some speed issues, the cure that helped (granted Safari is still ass slow) but by looking up on my windows machine what DNS server it was using (using IPCONFIG/ALL) and entering those DNS numbers into the IP section of the network manager it seems to speed the machine up for web surfing. Now that my Guru purchased a mac mini (Intel) and he surfs with that he is amazed at the speed, it loads a page in a fraction of the time of his PPC Apples
