Repairing Permissions

A while back I was having problems after installing a program that it wouldn’t run, I drug it in the trash and re-downloaded it, installed it again (drag it in the application folder) and same thing.. it wouldn’t run, it just didn’t do anything, no error nothing… so I did my normal and called my mac guru, he downloaded and drug it in his app folder and it ran like a champ… (you would laugh how many times we go back and fourth with things like this) so he had me go into disk utilities and “repair disc permissions” and low and behold it ran like a champ after that, I’m not really sure what repairing permissions does, I now am pretty versed in file permissions and don’t really understand what it does or how it does it, but it has sure fixed my Ills a couple of times…

Bottom line is if you run into something strange and you can’t make it work go into applications - utilities – disk utility application and repair your permissions and see what it does…
