FTP Client for Mac
In my everyday job I transfer tons of data through FTP, on my Windows machines I normally just used a command prompt. Then I went through a few different FTP clients and ended up using Filezilla most of the time, the after my switch to mac I looked at a bunch of FTP Clients for OS X, most are a Joke, Fetch… please who wants to watch a dog running for a cursor, not me that’s for sure, great for a 12 year old, but I wanted a Client that was a little more professional. I tried Transfer and many of the likes and then downloaded and tried one that I had used on Windows years ago and not runs on both platforms… Cute FTP from http://www.cuteftp.com . It works great on the mac, I have used it to access FTP servers running on Windows servers, Mac Servers and Linux Servers.
I find that it makes things easy and similar to how things worked for me on my PC. Its not free, but if you do any amount of file transfer you’ll get your moneys worth in lack of headaches… I find with doing a bunch of web development lately I have a need for changing file permissions on the server, and Cute makes this pretty easy too. One thing that cute for Windows does that I can’t seem to find on the Mac version is the ability to edit files right within the ftp client, I use this a lot on Windows to edit paths and things in PHP files and the likes… maybe in the next mac version, even without this still a great software
