Digg.com diggin a hole
I have been a Digg.com fan ( http://www.digg.com ) since day one, I have watched Kevin Rose in his early days of Tech TV and love the idea of Digg and all of the Revision 3 stuff ( http://www.revision3.com ) but I am afraid that digg is digging its own hole lately with all the people trolling for trouble, granted I like a little banter but seeing the bashing makes reading it not as fun as it was when it was informative…
I had read somewhere that any story that has Apple in it makes it to the front page, and I think that Apple zealots do a good job of pushing their computer beliefs on the rest of the world; but it seems that every posts comments turn into MS sucks or Apple sucks… Again I say using my computer is not an experience its a fuckin tool I use to do what I need or want to do, when I have something that is hard to do on a Windows machine I use one of my Apples, or maybe even a linux box and yes there are things that are easier on each platform. I love to sit with my buddy at http://www.learntomac.com and banter back and fourth on what is better, I lean to XP just to keep the banter going a lot of times, to tell you the truth it doesn’t make a huge difference to me besides I hate I can’t get the softwares I want on a Mac all the time, then again Apple includes some awesome software when you buy a new mac.
As far as Virus’ and things go I have no trouble, but I know better, I install AGV antivirus and windows defender (both free) and have ZERO troubles, but I can see how people download and install all kinds of crap and screw up their machines, this is also possible to do on a mac, so what that it asks for your root password, people are dumb enough to type it in trust me…. all kinds of stories on Digg lately about how apple’s market share is growing, I think I covered why in a previous post, its grown because people can run Windows now… so to all you Diggers that bash each other about the Apple vs Windows, cut it out and let Digg be informative again, if you don’t have something construtive to say; don’t say anything…
I sure hope Digg.com and its users keep growing and growing up so it can remain a great place to get good info and not have a bunch of haters on it (see any James Kim post) The bashers took a very sad thing and made a circus of it, if you think what he did was right or wrong, smart or stupid, it was/is still a very sad thing.
