Dell Laptop Part Deux

After my post about what laptop to buy a week or so ago I have had some comments that the Apple is a better value than the Dell, my last post I quickly spec’d out a very simple 15.4″ laptop, this time I spent about 3 extra minutes and added some missing things to it. This time I spec’d a core 2 duo 2.0 gig with 1 gig of ram (and a free upgrade to 2 gig), the better high res screen (1920 x 1200), 160 gig drive, dvd burner, ati PCI Express video, bluetooth (internal), all your normal stuff, included is Microsoft word processor, all the anti virus stuff (no flames about Apple not needing it)… a 2 year warranty, pretty full featured setup, there are tons more you could add I guess; but it covers the about anything I can think of. I would say this is not far off a Macbook Pro or is at least far above a standard Macbook as far as power and performance, both the powerbook and the Dell use the same size screen (a 15.4″ wide-screen has an area of 106.6 sq in compared to the 13″ with far less area; i’ll figure out the area later), the Dell has a larger hard drive, while the apple has a slick case and a camera built in the price tag sure is better on the Dell. Bottom line is the Dell can’t be compared to the Macbook, and when comparing it to the Macbook pro is is far less in price, enough so that I could buy myself a weekend in Las Vegas (airfare and hotel) with the savings and at the end of the day Have as much or more power. So head on over to http://www.learntomac.com and read how he is comparing a little macbook with low end intel graphics and a 13″ screen, small hard drive to this Dell and let him have it…lol Ohh yes, this Dell is $1,428 and the Apple Macbook Pro starts at $2k I guess that being able to spec out a computer to fit my personal needs is something I like about PC’s, I’m not stuck taking the package that the Apple fan boys have put out. I would say that the top end of top ends the apple is in line on price, but we don’t/can’t all drive a Farrari. I have spec’d out a laptop above that fits my needs (that are more machine than most need) and the price happens to fall far below the Mac’s pricing structure, they have basicly two models $1k or $2k…

Where’s the price on the new laptop you spec’d out? How am I to compare?

I still say the Dell you original spec’d out comapres favorably to the MacBook. I personally would rather have the DVD burner than a Highvend graphics card. Overall they are quite equal, you just trade this for that. Now… where’s the new spec’s lappy?
