Apple Time Capsule
After about a year of fighting and resetting my Linksys wireless N Router I found a great price on an Apple Time Capsule (500 gig version) I replaced my Linksys with the Apple Router/NAS. Its the normal Apple flawless design in Hardware, now when it comes to setup it seems that someone other than the normal Apple software engineers; having used many different routers in my day, this is the only one that doesn't use a Web interface to set it up...
MacBook Video Trouble
Recently my 15" Mac Book Pro had a little trouble... I flipped it open in the morning and heard the Optical drive do its normal buzzing (when there is a DVD in it) and what sounded like the hard drive spin up, but nothing on the screen; I have had these phantom not wake up things a few times in the past. I closed the notebook, opened it again and the same out come, nothing on the screen; so I held the power button and powered down, powered it back up, no chime nothing on the screen... ohh boy, I pulled the battery, disconnected the power, cycled it again, nothing..
Inverted Display Problem
Recently I received a call about a friends Macbook Pro having a Display problem that made the display look Broken or "inverted" so after a little searching I found that there is a key combination that will flip the screen from normal to inverted and back. Not sure of the purpose of the "Function" (you know Apple zealots call flaws functions) .
VMware and Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro
I have been using VWware Fusion for some time now with mixed results, I have Windows XP installed in BootCamp on my MacBook Pro and it runs like a champ; even running the engineering software I use for work (Pro/Engineer)in boot camp but not really the case running it in VM Ware. The speed of Windows on the mac using BootCamp is that of a fast Windows laptop being as it is simply all the same parts as any other laptop (Dell, HP, or who ever) with Apple Unreal Design, Fit and Finish and outright quality.
Apple TV and Boxee
We purchased an Apple TV sometime back as a decent way to control and stream my media library. The HP Media Smart Server is used to store and serve the music/video throughout the house, I will say both the Apple TV and the Media server have issues. The server comes with a iTunes server built in but doesn't seem to list all of the music library, so I hacked in and loaded iTunes on the server, it works okay besides it seems as though the server reboots about every two weeks or so and I have to log back in and get itunes running again.
Multizone Music with Airport Express
Currently I am in process of setting up a home theater in the lower level of my house; well in the planning stages anyway. I have an idea about using multiple airport express units to be able to have music on the deck, by the hot tub and where ever I want, I currently use an AppleTV in my main room, I will have multiple itunes clients running so I can select different music for different zones; I used to own an Express but sold it, it has issues that it may play for 1 minute or an hour, but hooked up wireless you can count on it stopping at one point or another...
Microsoft Surface
I read an article on http://gizmodo.com about someone uncrating a new Microsoft Surface Table, I had written about this on www.geekjoust.com about a year ago, so now I see it coming to life, but reading some of the comments makes me sick, why is it that Apple FanBoys have to compair this to a giant iPone, the iPhone is a touch screen, it only knows something is touching the screen and where, the Microsoft Surface uses a whole different technology so it can see what is touching the table, I'm not saying its better or worse technology but it is totally different and way more capable than a simpl

Firewire SDK - Tivo Killer
As everyone knows I am somewhat of a Tivo freak, its one of my favorite electronic toys there is; I own two Tivo’s along with a couple computers running Tivo server software so I can store shows for later use.
Anywhere Remote - Tivo
Well recently I posted that I had purchased a 32″ LCD tv for my bedroom, and plan on hooking a mac mini to it to run my home automation, I haven’t bought the Mini yet, but I did have to work a little magic to get things how I wanted them.
